Top SA Copyright Lawyer’s Patent Toolkit for Creatives

July 3rd, 2007 by Tracey

From Edison to IpodFrederick Mostert – the man who helped Nelson Mandela protect his name and image from exploitation – sets out the intricacies of intellectual property rights in layperson’s terms in his new book, co-authored with Don MacRobert, From Edison to Ipod, which hits the shelves this month.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Mostert showed up on set wearing an entirely fake ensemble, from his polyester “Armani” suit to the imitation “Rolex” on his wrist. His point was that it can be disturbingly easy for a person’s or company’s ideas to be copied – “stolen” is perhaps the more accurate word – and that it thus behooves creative minds to learn the legal steps that help prevent copyright infringement.

From Edison to iPod is written for those who wish to obtain a patent for their new ideas or inventions, or to make sure that the copyright of their creation, be it a song, book, website or other original concept or product, is properly protected. THe book helps individual inventors profit from their innovations without fear of theft of their intellectual property.

Frederick Mostert & Don MacRobert are both leaders in the intellectual property field. They have counselled public figures and celebrities including, in addition to Nelson Mandela, Lucas Radebe, Ryk Neethling, Boris Becker, Stella McCartney, The Shaolin Monks and Ernie Els.

Follow their practical tips and expert advice and learn how intellectual property works: queue up for your copy of From Edison to Ipod!

Mostert and MacRobert will be available for interviews from 15 to 21 July. For more information, contact:
