Several years ago I’d saved up enough money to do either a master’s degree in creative writing or a commercial pilot’s licence. It was a tough choice. At first glance these careers may seem rather disparate.
But both involve staring into the distance for hours at a time, picking people up at one point and dropping them off at another, and piloting something that could nosedive into the Earth at any second.
